Power company incentives to go green / Save power on PC’s

In doing some research for an upcoming presentation I discovered that many  power companies are now offering rebates to clients for deploying solutions that reduce energy consumption. On such piece of Software is  Power Save by Foroncis, Power company rebates range from 10% - 100% of the purchase price!

You have to love  the fact that the power company pays for your software AND you svae money on your power bill as well.

While you will have to do some homework anf fill out the appropriate forms presenting this concept at the next board meeting is a no-brainer

Citrix Unveils Project Kensho for Creation of Hypervisor-Independent Virtualization Application Workloads
— Citrix Systems announced ‘Project Kensho,’ which will deliver Open Virtual Machine Format (OVF) tools that allow independent software vendors (ISVs) and enterprise IT managers to create hypervisor-independent, portable enterprise application workloads. These tools will allow application workloads to be imported and run across Citrix XenServer, Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V and VMware ESX virtual environments.

I’ll be co-presenting two sessions at the IBM 2008 System x and BladeCenter Technical Conference in San Diego July 28 - August 1, 2008 With Tom Vezinia of IBM.

This session details an assessment (funded by IBM) for customers to determine the TCO/ROI benefits of:

  1. Server Consolidation with VMware or XENserver
  2. Desktop consolidation via VMware VDM/ESX
  3. Desktop consolidation via Citrix XenApp / XenDesktop

Also included is a “State of Desktop Virtualization” that details the how/why/when you should deploy the different methods.
