FusionStorm Foundation Launches the Dream Sail Raffle
5. August 2010 by Tony.
Raffle to Raise $250,000 to Fund Project Kaisei’s Expedition to the North Pacific Gyre Continuing Marine Debris Research and to Continue Fundraising Efforts to Reach $2,000,000 Goal
SAN FRANCISCO, CA–(Marketwire - July 16, 2010) - The FusionStorm Foundation has launched the Dream Sail Raffle to assist Ocean Voyages Institute and Project Kaisei with their ocean clean up initiative. The project aims to clean up plastics that are harmful to the world’s ocean and its marine life.
As a grand prize, one lucky winner will win a fabulous once-in-a-lifetime trip for four people to French Polynesia, sailing to the Tuamotu Islands aboard the Rocket Science, a luxurious 50ft sailing yacht. Airfare and cash are also included as part of this exciting package.
The Tuamotu Islands in French Polynesia is an exotic paradise inspired by the likes of Somerset Maugham and Michener. This magical part of the world is the perfect destination for those wishing a private, yet adventurous experience. The islands and lagoons boast miles and miles of pristine coastline and are nirvana for lovers of clear waters and exotic islands.
Additionally, there are many other exciting prizes that will be awarded during the early-bird raffle drawing on July 30th. The grand prize will be announced at a special event on August 28th, 2010. There are only 5,000 tickets available for sale which presents good odds for those who participate.
John Varel, CEO of FusionStorm and founder of the FusionStorm Foundation, said, “The Dream Sail Raffle is a fun and innovative way for people who love the ocean to be involved in raising awareness and funds for this important project.”
To purchase tickets and to learn more about the Dream Sail Raffle and Project Kaisei, please visit: www.dreamsailraffle.com or visit our facebook page.
The North Pacific Garbage Patch, said to be double the size of Texas, is located in the Pacific Ocean and is known to contain millions of tons of plastic trash. Project Kaisei is looking for solutions and is ready to begin ocean clean up, but they need funding to launch a significant clean up effort.
The plastic trash collected during this expedition will be distributed to a handful of recyclers who will test methods to convert this material into fuel or other useable goods. As a collaborative action program, Project Kaisei is seeking sponsors, participants and leaders in their respective industries who can help to make a difference on land, or at sea, in reducing marine debris.
The Foundation is also seeking major corporate partners and sponsors who are interested in being one of the first companies to assist with the expedition. Those interested should contact Kevin Schrage at Kevin@fusionstormfoundation.org

About Project Kaisei
Project Kaisei is the two-year old ocean clean up initiative of Ocean Voyages Institute and is based in San Francisco and Hong Kong. It was established to increase understanding of the dramatic increase of plastic pollution in the oceans and its impact on our marine environment, and how we can introduce solutions for both prevention and clean up.
